They warn us that TEPCO's electricity rate hike this time will potentially cause far more burden of consumers in the future.
They point out that the current scheme is problematic because it (1)is based on the assumption that nuclear reactors at Kashiwazaki-Kariwa will restart operations from next year, (2)is enacted before appropriate downsizing(for example, compared to JAL) is taken, (3)does not include surcharge (4)does not take into account the future costs of decontamination, decommissioning of reactors and compensations, (5)will perpetuate uneven costs between households and major clients.


The chairperson of the expert panel expressed his view that the government should have applied company rehabilitation law on TEPCO.
